Numbers drawn on Monday 11th January were 13, 20, 22 and 27. There was no jackpot winner (€3,150.) €20 draw winners: Eamonn Flanagan, Paul McGrath, Flor Harnedy, Andrew Nicholson and Angela Allen(online.) Next week’s jackpot is €3,300 and the draw will be on Monday 18th January. Lotto tickets are on sale from promoters and online. We would especially encourage people to use the online facility during Covid restrictions. Results of Shamrocks Christmas Raffle

Winners of some extra spot prizes that were added to the raffle will be announced in the coming days. Again a huge thank you to everyone who supported the raffle.
DÉISE ÓG DEVELOPMENT – ONLINE FOUNDATION COURSE
Foundation courses to be set up online on www.learning.gaa.ie with max 16 participants per
course. Multiple courses can be set up depending on interest from clubs.
Enrolment on a course is via the GAA Learning page and an enrolment key is needed to
register. All course attendees must register on the GAA Learning system before enrolling.
Clear and simple instructions will be given in relation to how to register.
All coaches will be asked to regularly log in to GAA Learning page for access to resources
and information relating to the Foundation course. The ‘Coach’s Forum’ and
‘Announcements’ sections of the course homepage to be utilised. The GAA Learning course
page will be used to share resources, answer questions and resolve technical issues that
coaches may have during the course as well as reminding coaches of upcoming calls and
practical sessions.
The cost of the Foundation course will be €15 per coach.
It is proposed that the first session for each course runs on week of 25 th Jan with 2 nd sessions
on week of 9 th Feb. Practical sessions to be in March/April 2021 as allowed by GAA once
restrictions lifted. 1 course per GDA Division will take place.
COURSE FORMAT
1. Session 1 – TEAMS CALL (1-1.5hrs approx.)
The first session is a Microsoft Teams call with all coaches who have enrolled on a
particular course. The video call will be hosted by a minimum of 1 Tutor.
Topics to be covered on the night include Course Introduction, Course format, Skills
of the Games, Coaching Child, Youth, Adult, How to Coach Skills.
Coaches are asked to have their videos turned on at all times as there will be
interaction between coaches and Tutor.
2. Session 2 – ONLINE COURSE MODULES (3-4hrs approx)
The online modules are available on the GAA Learning site and clear instructions will
be given as to how to complete each module. The 9 modules have to be done in
sequence and coaches have two weeks to complete all modules. The two weeks
begins after the first Microsoft Teams session.
Coaches are asked to make short notes as they complete each module as questions
and discussions will take place in Session 3 re same.
Tutor will make contact with coaches during this time to liaise on modules.
3. Session 3 – TEAMS CALL (1-1.5hrs approx.)
A recap of the online portion of the course and a discussion about the philosophies
and principles of the course. The Tutor will guide the discussion and get feedback
from all coaches during the call.
On this call, the details/arrangements for the practical session of the foundation
course will be shared.
4. Session 4 – PRACTICAL SESSION (3-4hrs)
The practical session will take place at the earliest available opportunity and in line
with recommended guidelines at the time. A central location convenient to all
coaches will be used. The practical session will see all coaches being given the
opportunity to coach and to direct a session. Emphasis to be put on the IDEA and
STEP models. Coaches to be given the opportunity to coach/demonstrate FMS
drills/games and hurling/football skills. Coaches to also design fun and modified
games for players.
Following the successful completion of all of the above sessions, a Foundation
certificate will be issued to coaches.
