Club Notes: 21st July 2019

Shamrocks GAA Club Notes (Kindly sponsored by Allen Engineering & Agri Sales Ltd).

Club Lotto.
Last week’s winning numbers were 3-7-10-13, and there was no winner. €20 winners were Ed Murphy, Aine Neville, Eamonn Forbes, Mary Stakem, W.A. Ledingham. Next week’s jackpot will be €2,100.

Junior C Hurling.
Our junior hurling team faced Abbeyside last Saturday in Knockanore with little but pride left to play for. Because we had lost a lot of players to the Intermediate team, as well as injuries etc, it was a bit of a struggle to field a team, but that we did. We were well beaten in the end, but fair play to everyone who showed up, and gave their best. Panel; Liam Murphy, Keegan O’ Farrell, Thomas Baldwin, Martin Delaney, Eoin Roche, Liam Dalton, Mike O’ Neill, Sean Murphy, Michael Lucey, Alan Kelly, Jamie Murphy, Padraig Tobin, Conner Goulding, Sean O’ Neill, Tim Lenehan, John A. Kelly, Kelvyn O’ Farrell, Seamus Tobin.

Michael Kiely RIP.
Shamrocks would like to sympathise with the family and friends of Michael Kiely, Ballinacourty, Dungarvan, who passed away recently. Michael was the father of Mary Kate, and father -in-law to selector and assistant club secretary Padraig Tobin. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.

Intermediate Hurling.
Our 4th round Intermediate Hurling tie versus Ballinameela will take place next Sunday 28th in Lismore at 12.45. With two games won, and one defeat, we are qualified for the quarter finals, but obviously another win would be an advantage for a favourable draw. Even though it’s a strange time, let’s go along and give them some support.

GAA World Games.
The GAA World Games are being held in Waterford this year, so the International team that the Shamrocks will be twinned with is France. So they will be visiting us in the KGK Hall on Tuesday night 30th July, and we are planning to have an evening of entertainment from 7.30, to 9.30pm. So we are encouraging all members of Shamrocks GAA and Shamrocks Ladies Football club to wear your club colours and come along to meet the players, and enjoy the entertainment.

Congratulations.
Shamrocks would like to send our congratulations to selector Peter Morrisson and his wife Martha on the birth of a baby girl. Well done you two!
And we also send our congratulations to popular player Tommy O’ Donovan and Aine who also celebrated the arrival of a baby girl recently.

Good Luck Deirdre!
And finally we send our congratulations and best wishes to Deirdre O’ Donovan who has been appointed as the new Principal in Knockanore National School. Deirdre is a very popular teacher in the school, and this appointment was very warmly received in the three parishes. Good Luck Deirdre, may you have many happy years in Knockanore!
