Club Notes: 24th June 2019

Shamrocks GAA Club Notes ( Kindly sponsored by Allen Engineering & Agri Sales Ltd.)

Club Lotto.
Last Saturday’s winning lotto numbers were 5-12-14-16, and there was one winner of the €3,300 jackpot, and that person was long time committee member and stalwart Shamrocks supporter Mary Tobin. Congratulations Mary. €20 winners were Oliver Flanagan, Eileen Coady, Philip Walton, Michael Condon, Kathleen Tobin. Next week’s jackpot starts off again at €1,500.

IHC, Shamrocks 0-15, Clashmore 3-17.
Forced to line out without Shane and Colm Roche, John Paul Lucey, and Padraig Roche, this 3rd round tie against last year’s Western Champions was always going to be a tough ask last Saturday in Ardmore, and so it proved. Facing the wind in the first half, we struggled to score, and were 11 points down at the break. The task became even harder at the start of the second half when Clashmore found the net twice, and to give our players credit, they stayed competitive and scored 11 points, but in the end were beaten by 11. What was encouraging was how our younger players, like Liam Motherway (2 points), Kieran Crawford (2 points),  Ivan O’ Neill and Tom Roche played, and it was good to see them hurling confidently. We have one match left in the group stages against Ballinameela which isn’t scheduled to take place until the end of July.

Junior Hurling.
Our next match in the Junior hurling championship is set for Friday 5th July against Abbeyside in Knockanore at 8pm. With a lot of players having made the step up to Intermediate because of injuries etc, our Junior squad is stretched very thin, so it is going to be difficult to put out a strong team. Best of luck to them.

Junior Football.
Our next match in the Football championship is due to take place on Friday 12th July versus Old Parish in Ardmore at 7.30pm.
