Club Notes – 26th November 2013

Club Lotto.
The numbers drawn in last Saturday’s lotto draw were 4-7-16-21, and there was no winner. €20 winners were L.O’ Dwyer, Anne Murray, Mary Tobin, Dan Casey, and Tom Kelly. Next week’s jackpot will be €13,450.

Ballysaggart into Munster Final.
These are exciting times in the village of Ballysaggart with their hurling team winning on succesive weekends to earn themselves a place in the Munster Junior Hurling final. They may be one of the smallest clubs in the Deise, but they are certainly not lacking in spirit and no little skill. To defeat the representatives of the two traditional powerhouse hurling counties in Munster, Cork and Tipperery is quite an achievement, and we congratulate them on their wonderful run. The Bennett brothers, two of whom were on the victorious Waterford Minor All Ireland team are making most of the headlines, but they have strength in depth with the Murphys, Meaghers, Devine, Fennessy, O’ Gorman etc. etc. They now face the Limerick champions Feenagh / Kilmeedy on Sunday week in Mallow in the Munster final, and I’m sure all Deise clubs, like ourselves, wish them the very best of luck to go on and lift that trophy.

Sympathies.
The Shamrocks would like to offer our deepest sympathies to James and the Tobin family, Ballyhamlet, on the sudden death of Terence Tobin, Shanakill, Curraglass, which occured last Friday at his home, leaving behind his wife and two young sons. To all his family and friends we offer our condolences.
We also wish to sympathise with Rose O’ Keeffe and Gerard Murray on the death of Mary Landers, Killeagh, which occured recently. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.
